Precinct plan

Precinct plan image The Precinct Development Plan (PDP) was put in place with the local authority to manage developments in the Illovo Boulevard. Intaprop, the original developers worked with residents and interest groups / stakeholders in the wider area for many years to effect planned change for the area. The development rights for the expansion of the Illovo node westwards - to its natural boundary - were finally approved by the Local Authority in 1997, thereby creating the 'Illovo Boulevard'. The guiding principles of the plan ensure control and ongoing assessment of land-use in the precinct.

The Precinct Development Plan ensures:

Commercial and investment sustainability The design principles of the Illovo Boulevard are specifically aimed at creating a balanced and viable node which contains a mix of uses within an aesthetically pleasing urban environment.

The Illovo Boulevard represents the first instance where a Precinct Development Plan was implemented as a result of joint public/private sector involvement.
