Infrastructure

Roads

All road upgrades in the Illovo Boulevard and the surrounding area are complete. Since 1998 the following roads have been upgraded by the Illovo Boulevard Management District (IBMD) in partnership with the City:

• Bompas Road (from Oxford to Melvill roads)
• Oxford Road (from Bompas to Harries roads)
• Corlett Drive (between Oxford and Rudd Roads)
• Fricker Road (from Hurlingham to Harries roads)
• Chaplin Road (from Oxford to Melvill roads)
• Chaplin Road (at the intersection of Rudd road)
• Intersection of Melvill Road and 3rd Road, Hydepark

Street lights

The installation of the new lighting along Hurlingham, Chaplin and Harries roads is now complete.

Telecommunications

Telkom has installed the latest in telecommunication technology in the customer designed Illovo Boulevard exchange. This exchange is able to accommodate over 5,000 lines in the Illovo Boulevard and caters for a wide range of digital and ISDN facilities.

Pavements

All fences pertaining to undeveloped sites have been moved to their correct position (according to the precinct development plan stipulations). Gravel has also been placed on the pavements of these sites. These measures have helped to give the Boulevard a sense of visual completion.
